Goris State College was founded in 1924/25 academic year and operated first as Goris Pedagogical Technical College, since 1966 as Goris Pedagogical School, since 1998 as Goris State Pedagogical College, since 2008 as Goris State College. From the beginning, the school was one of the best educational centers in the Syunik-Zangezur region, which during its activity trained pedagogical personnel and met the demand for personnel of Syunik and Vayots Dzor, as well as the educational institutions of Nagorno Karabakh (and not only). Some of the graduates of the educational institution continue their studies in various universities of the republic. About 50 of them became famous writers, academics, educators, doctors, philosophers, who were and remain the glory of the educational institution. The nearly 90-year-old educational center, despite the ravages of time, has kept its originality, occupying a worthy and permanent place among the secondary professional educational institutions of the republic.
